Hazel, Kentucky Antique District: Named One of the Top 10 in the U.S.

Fodor’s, the world’s largest publisher of travel and tourism information, has named the Hazel, Kentucky Antique District as one of the 10 best antiquing towns in the United States. Fodor’s guide says: “With only about 410 people, Hazel is a small but mighty antiquing town, as it boasts 12 independent antique shops. Almost all of these shops line the town’s Main Street allowing for an easy day-long stroll through American history.”

Every shop in Hazel holds treasures for the collector from primitive to mid-century from glassware, to advertising relics, to furniture. Some of the shops include new decor items for the home and giftware. One of the shop owners makes custom jewelry and sells that along with antiques. Another shop owner is an interior designer and offers design services along with antiques, new accessories and eclectic items. Several stores offer advertising relics, and very fine primitive furniture and antiques. Several of the owners have been in business for over 25 years and offer a wealth of knowledge on antique furniture and glassware.

In Hazel, there are treasures to be found for anyone. Come and shop and spend the day, and eat breakfast or lunch at one of the two fine restaurants. While many shops are open seven days a week, some are not, especially in the winter months. Call ahead to check days and times open.
