Centerville Winery a Family Operation

In 2007, empty nesters Joey and Gail Chessor opened the doors of the Grinder’s Switch Winery in Centerville, Tenn. Seven years, thousands of bottles of wine and multiple awards later, the Chessors are still in love with the wine-making business. Joey became fascinated with growing grapes and making wine more than 10 years ago. He used some of the family’s 110 acres to begin planting and his “hobby out of control” was born. The couple’s two children Jodie and Mick are also part of the daily operation and this summer grandson T.C. joins the winery adding a third generation to the family business.

The Grinder’s Switch Winery is nestled on a winding country road in Centerville. The tasting room is housed in the old family home – a log cabin that Gail and Joey took two years to build themselves with logs from their own property. The winery is as comfortable and casual as a family home too. The Chessor family invites you to take a break from your travels or busy day and stop by for a visit. The grounds are beautiful, and offer relaxing places to sit under the trees and enjoy the warm weather and a glass of wine. Free wine tastings are available seven days a week. Also free is the entertainment that is a part of summertime at the Grinder’s Switch Winery. They are famous for their evening “Blues and Wine” concert series held several times during the summer.
