Bell Witch Fall Festival: A Celebration of Arts, Culture and Music

The City of Adams and Community Spirit are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Bell Witch Fall Festival, sponsored by F&M Bank, Oct. 11 – Nov. 2 at the Bell School Outdoor Theater off Highway 41 in Adams, Tenn. This year’s event features four consecutive weekends of arts, culture, and music for the entire family.
Back by popular demand and kicking off the festival hometown favorites, the Red River Boys, who will give an upbeat performance and walk down memory lane with their country favorites performed by David Alford, Tim Buchanan, Rueben Buck and Billy Seeley. Friday’s show will include special guest Leanne Morgan, nationally renowned comedienne, Adams native, and Jo Byrns graduate. This mother of three, living in rural Appalachia, combines her southern charm and hilarious story telling about her own life into a compelling act. People are always accusing her of spying on them because she seems to be living the same life that they do.
The entire family will enjoy A Day at the Farm Sat. Oct. 19 from 10-5 at Shade Tree Farm and Orchard, located at 2087 Kinneys Rd. in Adams. Special activities include wagon rides, crafts, pumpkin carving/decorating, Orchard Olympics, and the Orchard Store will be open for shopping. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the performance by A Bunch of Bluegrass at 3 p.m. and bring your appetites, as there will plenty of good food to eat. Admission is $6 per person, which includes all activities.
After spending the day at the farm, enjoy a “SPIRIT TALES” Free Family Movie Night at the Bell School Auditorium Sat., Oct. 19 at 4 and 7 p.m. Many people in Adams, Robertson County, Middle Tennessee, and even in the state have heard about The Bell Witch. Most have seen the play “SPIRIT,” but few have seen “SPIRIT TALES,” a video-taped interview with Bims Eden, prior owner of the Bell Witch Cave. Eden speaks candidly about the unexplainable happenings related to the Bell Witch. After the movie, there will be an open forum for questions and answers. Popcorn and drinks will be available at the Sory Drugstore and Soda Fountain. Donations to Community Spirit, Inc. will be accepted
The final two weekends of the Bell Witch Fall Festival will feature performances of “SPIRIT.” The Legend of the Bell Witch is well-known around the world and “SPIRIT” revisits the documented events of the Bell family, complete with the unexplainable moving objects and pinching and slapping of family members; a particular hatred for patriarch John Bell and his youngest daughter Betsy who bore the brunt of physical abuse; and the culmination of John Bell’s death. Show times are at 7 p.m. on the weekends of: Oct. 24, 25, 26 and Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $8 for students. $5 student night is Thursday, Oct. 24. Teachers who bring three or more students will be admitted for $10 on student night.
